Miscellaneous Slide Show

How High?

Ethan is the tallest kid in our class and all of the children think that he is really funny too! Each day this week Ethan has tried to create the tallest block structures imaginable. Here is a picture of him with one of his creations, and yes I let him stand in a chair in order to reach as high as possible. When finished it was taller than him and me. Here it is.
This is just a good picture of some of the boys in the puzzle center. I just love watching them work together and thought you might enjoy this picture too!

This week in review

We have had such a fun week of learning this week. I found my self laughing and smiling at all of the things that the kids have said and done. We have focused on families this week and created a family picture and even wrote each family members name. Now that was a real task. Another fun thing from this week was that we added the dress up clothes to the house center. I try to rotate the centers every two to three weeks to keep the children actively engaged in the learning areas and the dress up clothes are a big hit. There are plenty of items for them to choose from and in this first box there seems to be a big demand for the wedding veil and the high heel shoes. I hope that you enjoy these pictures as much as we enjoy the dialogue and facial expressions that go along with children playing dress up.

Veterans Day

I had to stop and make a quick post while the kids are in the Library. As we sat this morning in our first circle time we talked about Veterans Day and what it meant. I started by spelling Veteran and talking about the letters. Then I asked, "What is a veteran?" This is why I love pre-k. One child answered, they take care of your dog. I smiled and said, "no" does anyone else think that they might know what a Veteran is? The next child answered, "They take care of your cat." I again smiled and said, "not quite." It was then apparent that they would try every animal known to man until they got it right. Oh well, we eventually learned about Veterans as being those who chose to serve in a branch of the military(and we discussed each) and then we talked about how they were strong, brave and protected us. Isn't that just precious the innocence of a child. I guess a Vet is kinda like a Veteran. They are people who have chosen to serve, however they only protect the animals. May God bless all of the Veterans on this Veterans Day. Our class is thankful for you all!
