Read, Read, Read
Every day when we return from breakfast we have journal time. When we finish journals the kids know to get them two or three books and find a quiet place in the room to look at them. While this has taken quite a while to get them to do, this is now one of their favorite parts of the day. I can truly say that we are growing readers who appreciate books and the entertainment that they provide. We may not be able to read words yet, but we read with our eyes by finding familiar letters, colors, distinguishing day and night, characters and much more in the stories that we are looking at. This is the beginning stages of reading and I am so proud of the kids.

How High?
Ethan is the tallest kid in our class and all of the children think that he is really funny too! Each day this week Ethan has tried to create the tallest block structures imaginable. Here is a picture of him with one of his creations, and yes I let him stand in a chair in order to reach as high as possible. When finished it was taller than him and me. Here it is.
This is just a good picture of some of the boys in the puzzle center. I just love watching them work together and thought you might enjoy this picture too!

This week in review
We have had such a fun week of learning this week. I found my self laughing and smiling at all of the things that the kids have said and done. We have focused on families this week and created a family picture and even wrote each family members name. Now that was a real task. Another fun thing from this week was that we added the dress up clothes to the house center. I try to rotate the centers every two to three weeks to keep the children actively engaged in the learning areas and the dress up clothes are a big hit. There are plenty of items for them to choose from and in this first box there seems to be a big demand for the wedding veil and the high heel shoes. I hope that you enjoy these pictures as much as we enjoy the dialogue and facial expressions that go along with children playing dress up.
